Noble Park - Transformed, 2018

community

Noble Park is a colourful, vibrant and aromatic suburb of Melbourne with a high density of resettled refugees from diverse ethnic communities. COMMUNITY is a temporary reflection of members of that community activated by each passing pedestrian in a local laneway. Acrylic mirrored bricks were stuck to the face of the brick wall on one side of the lane. The mirrors gather at the centre of the laneway as a fragmented doorway. An incomplete reflection of a fragmented self gathered into a community.

Noble Park - Transformed, 2018

string theory

As a second iteration of COMMUNITY, all of the acrylic mirror bricks were stealthily removed leaving only the Velcro dots. Wool purchased from the Salvation Army store behind the brick wall, presented an opportunity for expression through an interactive join-the-dots with the public in the laneway.

Roadworks

line works, 2018

We place an extraordinary amount of trust in a painted line on an asphalt surface to cross any road safely. Lines are a graphic form of communication and control, from writing to lines on a road, to lines on a map. These are a series of playful, unsanctioned temporary piss-takes of lines that we usually take for granted.

hydro-theticals for Melbourne Water, 2018

evanescere

Evanecere is a 'pataphysical' work in 3 parts, a cube of water hovering above Sandy Point Breakwater, the negative cube of water cut from the bay, and the borderline of Melbourne Water’s jurisdiction which is coincident with the water line of the breakwater. It is an exploration firstly into the ideas of lines on a map defining ownership, responsibility and control, secondly, into the idea of giving water a measurable form and finally the hypothetical nature of the project which opens the future

Sculpture by the sea, cottesloe beach, perth 2007

aube, 2007

Sunset is an iconic moment in Western Australia, the sun hovers above the horizon, becomes almost fluid as it settles and dissolves into the sea. Aube is that moment, frozen on the sand of Cottesloe Beach.

Kew House, 2013

Kew House is a private residence in Kew, Melbourne. It is included in my Public Art works because the entire northern façade is a perforated aluminium, openable screen, the image taken from BUSH MEDICINE DREAMING, 2004 by Gloria Petyarre with her permission and acknowledgement. The sunlight that penetrates through the screen, projects the stylised image of the painting onto the internal walls and floor, arcing through the house. Fragments of the image are backlit at night as room are occupied.
